Department Overview
The Evidence and Devices Engineering team is responsible for Motorola Solutions’ body cameras, vehicle cameras and evidence management software leveraged in public safety and enterprise applications worldwide.
We are a thriving and growing company in search of a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our evidence management team at our Edinburgh, Scotland site. This is a full-time role where you will play a crucial part in the development and growth of our software engineering projects. We are seeking a talented and proactive individual who can contribute to our team’s success and foster a positive culture within the company.
Job Description
You will be responsible for:
- Designing and implementing Java-based applications.
- Analyzing user requirements to inform application design.
- Debugging and resolving technical problems that arise.
- Ensuring continuous professional self-development.
Basic Requirements
Please note this is a hybrid role based out of the Edinburgh Office.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2+ years of experience in building large-scale Java software applications.
- Substantial understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
- Knowledge of testing and debugging software issues.
- Good understanding of relational databases, ORM Technologies, and SQL.
- Collaborates with co-workers and has strong communication, relationship-building, and cooperation skills.
Bonus points for:
- Experience with microservices architecture/distributed computing (Docker, Podman).
- Knowledge of frontend languages (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and their libraries.
- Previous working experience in an Agile environment (Scrum).
- Familiarity with Linux-based environments.
